Cycling in the City course
The Cycling in the City course is a free course available to any individual over 18 years old who is not a beginner (see below for beginner course providers). The course teaches low risk and responsible riding and is designed for people who can already ride but want confidence to ride on city streets.

Course details
Course duration: approximately 4.5 hours
Course size: maximum 10 people per course
Course instructors: 2 certified cycling instructors
Wet weather: courses will run in all but extreme weather conditions. In the event of extreme weather, course participants need to call a mobile number to find out if the course is proceeding on that day or not.
The mobile number is provided in the confirmation email sent to participants once they are booked in to the course.
Course structure:
- An initial check and practise of basic cycling skills (conducted in a park away from traffic)
- Cycling on quiet roads to learn what to do on a bike in low to moderate traffic
- Cycling in regular traffic to practice urban traffic cycling skills (with regular stops to discuss different situations city cyclists come across)
- Learning different cycling drills on a variety of roads – the two instructors will demonstrate the various drills first and then course participants will practice them

The Cycling in the City course is run from the CARES Facility in Sydney Park. The CARES Facility is located on Sydney Park Road, close to the intersection of Mitchell and Sydney Park Roads. More information about the CARES Facility can be found here.

Parking
There is a public car park close to the intersection of Mitchell and Sydney Park Roads.
Public transport
St Peters station (the Bankstown line) is a five minute ride on a shared path along the northern perimeter of Sydney Park.
